Indian football is going through a revolution of sorts for the last 3-4 years due to the soaring popularity of Indin Super League (ISL). This in turn has helped attract more eyes on the I League matches. Twists and turns has made the game of football intriguing and that is what we are witnessing this season. East Bengal, who last won the competition in 2003, are leading the table after remaining unbeaten in the last 5 matches. Their fiercest rival, Mohun Bagan AC are giving them a stiff competition by currently lying in the second spot. Mizoram based club Aizawl FC, who won 1-0 against DSK Shivajians this week, occupies the 3rd position. Although both . FC and Bangalore are 7 points behind the league leaders, the competition is still wide open.

The battle of survival in the down half of the table has also been tipsy turvy so far this season. New entrants, Chennai City Club, were languishing at the bottom of the table until they registered their first win in I League against Aizwal FC last week. They couldn't maintain that winning momentum as they faced defeat again this week. Another debutant team from Punjab, Minerva, have had a lackluster tournament as they have secured only two points so far.

Churchill Brothers, DSK and Mumbai FC are all fighting it out against one another to be secure from relegation. As the competition enters its eight week, football fanatics of India are confused predicting who is gonna come out on top this season. Let us hope that the league remains unpredictable and the competition this year attracts more number of sponsors and following, which it rightly deserves.
