Can India become a football-loving nation?

football icon 2In a country where cricket is worshipped more than any other sport, football has come on the horizon and is becoming a fan favourite. Mostly played in Bengal and some southern states, recent studies have shown how the love for the game has risen throughout the nation.

With the love for the sport on the rise, children from all age groups play this game with heart and courage. Known as 'The Beautiful Game' it surely can attract anyone all age groups.

Football came to India from England mainly by the most popular league in the world 'The English Premier League '. Teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal have an emphatic fan following in the nation. These clubs have opened football schools and camps in different parts of the country and are running successfully, with children from various age groups joining and getting trials to go to England and other European nations to play professionally. Young players from different areas of the country, even from remote regions, are called upon in these camps to show their skills. Hopefully we can see a change in the way people of this nation see football as a sport as there is a lot of hope and scope ahead.

Indian Super League (ISL) is a great example of how Indian football has evolved. With stars coming from different countries, they have shown their skills on the pitch and attracted people to come to the stadiums.

Let’s hope that Indian football can go a long way and soon people of this nation can see Indian football team play in the World Cup!
